The Serra do Cercal is located in the Alentejo Litoral and runs north-south through the municipalities of Santiago do Cacém and Odemira. It is part of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park and reaches its highest point at the 372-meter peak of Santo Isidro.
Rising in a line 25km long parallel to the coast, the peaks of this mountain range offer a view of the whole of the Alentejo: both the coastal Alentejo, with the horizon sailing between the plain of the sea and the waters of the Mira, and the deep Alentejo, where cork oak forests and patches of green fields paint the landscape.
Despite being less well known, this is undoubtedly a spot on the map to visit and get to know. On foot or on wheels, any route that passes through here is worth a visit. And it will probably be a trip with a V back.
